Mathematical Problems in Seismology and Earthquake Engineering
The lecture will discuss the occurrence of strong earthquakes as related to the tectonics of the Earth’s lithospheric plates.
Several classes of problems which occur in Seismology and Earthquake Engineering will be discussed.
•Mathematical models of occurrence of earthquakes and their potential prediction
•Possible ways of reducing the destructive impact of earthquakes on structures
Solutions we discuss will be based on the asymptotic method of singularly perturbed differential equations.
